Are computer bugs real bugs?

In that particular case, technicians discovered that a moth had gotten trapped in one of the relays of the computer, causing a malfunction. The moth was removed, and the incident was recorded as the first documented instance of a "bug" causing a computer problem. This event led to the popularization of the term "bug" as a metaphor for software or hardware issues.

While moths were the cause of the first recorded bug, other insects or small animals could potentially create similar problems. Dust, debris, or even rodents could disrupt the delicate electrical connections, switches, or mechanical components of early computers, leading to errors or malfunctions.
